Gut transit rate in Atlantic salmon ( <i>Salmo salar</i> ) exposed to optimal and suboptimally high water temperatures

چکیده
The gut transit rate of ingested feed in fish affects the utilization dietary nutrients; however, influence water temperature, remains underexplored Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). present study quantified four distinct regions gastrointestinal tract (stomach, pyloric caeca, small and large intestine) post-smolt at two temperatures; 11 20°C, by feeding a diet incorporated with Ballotini beads. A determination relative total bead density each region was assessed for 48 h, post-feeding. clear inverse relationship between stomach intestine recorded both temperatures. However, subjected to 20°C faster compared 11°C intestine. caeca appeared unaffected temperature. re-iterates positive temperature also critical function controlling gastric fish. This information may be used improve strategies aimed enhancing nutrient through increased understanding commercially important species.

A digestibility trial was conducted to examine the effect of feeding rate on dry matter, gross energy, crude protein and phosphorus digestibility in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). Duplicate groups of fish were fed 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25 and 1.9% BW/day. The faeces were collected by Guelph-type collectors for five successive days. Dry matter, protein and phosphorus digestibility’s wer...

متن کاملA high-resolution map of the gut microbiota in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar): A basis for comparative gut microbial research
Gut health challenges, possibly related to alterations in gut microbiota, caused by plant ingredients in the diets, cause losses in Atlantic salmon production. To investigate the role of the microbiota for gut function and health, detailed characterization of the gut microbiota is needed. We present the first in-depth characterization of salmon gut microbiota based on high-throughput sequencing...
متن کاملStability and structural reversibility of proteins exposed to high temperatures
Thermal stability of proteins During various industrial processes it is necessary for proteins to be temporarily placed under elevated temperatures. It is crucial to understand whether the protein of importance is stable at increased temperatures and whether the effects of increasing the temperature are reversible. The resistance of a protein to denaturation and its ability to refold are also m...
